CyberGrid is thrilled to be part of the first Forum Batteriespeicher Österreich on 15 September 2026 at ERSTE Campus in Vienna. Organised by the Bundesverband Energiespeicher Österreich (BVEÖ) in cooperation with Germany's BVES Bundesverband Energiespeicher Systeme, the Forum will bring together companies, decision-makers and experts from across the storage sector. Four moderated panels will address legal frameworks and regulation, storage technologies, financing, and project development and commercialisation.
Connecting battery storage with electricity markets
For batteries and other energy assets owners, commercial performance depends on a series of connected decisions: when to charge or discharge, which markets to enter, how much capacity to reserve, and how to respect the limits of the battery and its grid connection. These decisions also shape the operating assumptions behind a storage project's business case. CyberGrid brings experience in managing these requirements through CyberNoc - our state-of-the-art flexibility-management platform. CyberNoc combines forecasting, automated bidding, real-time monitoring and asset control to coordinate flexible resources across day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets, including FCR, aFRR and mFRR.
Making BESS co-location work as one system
When batteries share a grid connection with renewable generation, the operating strategy needs to account for the entire site. CyberNoc's Co-location Flexibility Optimization (CFO) Agent evaluates market prices, generation forecasts, asset costs and technical parameters to coordinate whether available flexibility is used on site, stored or traded.
EVN Naturkraft's hybrid park in Trumau and Tattendorf illustrates this approach in practice. It combines a 16 MW wind farm, a 10 MW photovoltaic installation and a 3.4 MW / 6.8 MWh battery energy storage system, with CyberNoc coordinating their flexibility. The platform considers renewable generation forecasts, battery state of charge, available grid capacity, technical restrictions and accepted market commitments when preparing and updating operating schedules. The project demonstrates how storage can support renewable integration, provide balancing services and participate in wholesale trading through a coordinated operating strategy.
