Accelerating BESS deployment and flexibility provision in the German market with BVES

BVES German Energy Storage Association
October 5, 2026

CyberGrid joins the German Energy Storage Association (BVES) to actively contribute to the advancement of energy storage technologies, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and flexibility solutions that support the German energy transition. BVES is committed to establishing energy storage as a sustainable and efficient component of the future energy system across the electricity, heating, and mobility sectors. The association promotes the widespread adoption of storage technologies to increase grid stability, security of supply, and the effective integration of renewable energy.

By supporting the intelligent integration, optimization, and monetization of battery storage systems, renewable energy assets, and flexible consumers, CyberGrid helps asset owners unlock additional revenue streams while contributing to a more resilient and sustainable energy system. Through our flexibility management platform CyberNoc, energy assets can participate in wholesale and balancing markets, maximizing economic returns while providing valuable flexibility to the grid.

Together with BVES and its members, we aim to further strenghten the regulatory framework for energy storage and flexibility, accelerate the integration of renewable energy sources, and promote market conditions that enable greater participation of energy storage systems in Germany's electricity markets.

A shared vision for Germany's energy future

CyberGrid supports BVES and its goal of strengthening Germany as an industrial country through a decentralized, digitalized, and decarbonized energy system. As BVES states, to achieve this vision, the energy system of the future should encompass the following actions:

  • The accelerated deployment of renewable energy without unnecessary regulatory barriers
  • The removal of double taxation and fees for energy storage systems
  • A new market design that rewards flexibility and cost efficiency, and provides long-term investment security
  • Greater sector coupling between electricity, heating, mobility, and industry
  • The active participation of prosumers and energy communities in energy markets

These measures are essential to unlocking the full value of energy storage and flexibility while ensuring a reliable and affordable energy supply for business and consumers.

Driving innovation across the energy storage value chain

BVES brings together more than 400 member companies and partner organizations from across the energy storage ecosystem. Members represent a wide range of fields, including:

  • Storage project development
  • Technology manufacturing
  • Financing and investment
  • Asset operation
  • Insurance
  • Research and innovation
  • Energy services and market integraiton

The association's network includes start-ups, medium-sized enterprises, and international corporations working together to accelerate the deployment of energy storage technologies throughout Germany.

About BVES

Founded in 2012, BVES represents the interests of the energy storage industry and works to establish favourable market and regulatory conditions for storage technologies. The association develops standards and best practices, supports innovation, and helps remove market barriers at both national and international levels.
