At CyberGrid we are excited to invite energy professionals to visit Trumau Hybrid Park on 9 November 2026, ahead of Enlit Europe, taking place in Vienna on 10–12 November. The guided visit will provide an opportunity to examine how renewable generation, battery storage and digital optimisation work together in an operating hybrid energy system.
At Trumau Hybrid Park, a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a rated power of 3.4 MW and an energy capacity of 6.8 MWh operates alongside a 10 MW photovoltaic plant. The installation is interconnected with the nearby 16 MW Tattendorf wind farm. Operational since 2025, the battery adds controllable storage capacity to this combination of wind and solar generation. The project illustrates an important aspect of renewable integration: the timing of electricity generation does not necessarily coincide with demand or favourable market conditions. Storage can absorb surplus renewable electricity and release it later, while also making capacity available for balancing services. Coordinating these applications can help reduce curtailment and improve the use of existing grid infrastructure.
Our flexibility management platform, CyberNoc, coordinates the hybrid assets’ participation in electricity markets. Through forecasting, automated optimisation, monitoring and control, it connects site operation with day-ahead and intraday trading as well as balancing services, including Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR), automatic Frequency Restoration Reserve (aFRR) and manual Frequency Restoration Reserve (mFRR). Effective coordination requires operating decisions to reflect both technical conditions and commercial commitments. Renewable generation forecasts, the battery’s state of charge, grid connection capacity and accepted market bids all influence how much flexibility is available. CyberNoc uses these inputs to prepare and update operating schedules as conditions change. This approach allows charging, discharging and the reservation of capacity for balancing services to be considered within a coordinated strategy for the hybrid park.
The visit will connect these operating principles with their practical implementation. Representatives from EVN Naturkraft and CyberGrid will guide participants through the project and discuss the interaction between renewable generation, battery storage and flexibility trading. Participants can explore how the assets are coordinated, how storage supports participation in different electricity markets, and which operational considerations shape a hybrid project’s business case. For utilities, developers, asset owners and other energy professionals, the tour offers an opportunity to discuss practical questions with the teams involved and exchange perspectives with industry colleagues before Enlit Europe begins.
